My Musical Journey

My lifelong affinity for music began at a very young age, noodling around on my Mom’s piano as a toddler, learning melodies by ear long before formal training could catch up. Middle school and high school would later introduce me to the world of percussion and drums, but it was a friend’s electric guitar in 8th grade that truly changed everything. This sparked a journey of discovery through multiple instruments: guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, synthesizers, and lastly computers and recording software.

With each new instrument I learned throughout the years, I was finally able to create a one-man band that allowed me full creative freedom.

White Ashes

In 2015, my musical exploration took a significant leap forward with a fateful trip to The Tempermill Studio, the most awarded recording studio in Ferndale just outside of Detroit. There, with recording engineer Erik Maluchnik, I recorded my title track “Detroit Touch.” This track, where I played every instrument, remains my most popular song to this day on Spotify. The session sparked the creation of a 4-track EP titled “Detroit Touch.” My follow-up album, “The Greater Fool,” was largely home-recorded and ventured into a more psychedelic realm, reflecting a rawer, more experimental phase of my music.

Returning to The Tempermill studio years later, I produced the track “Summer Song,” blending exotica with surf rock and Italian soundtracks, pushing my musical boundaries even further. The signature sound of White Ashes—evident in tracks like “Detroit Touch,” inspired by timeless hits like “Summer Madness” and “Summer in the City”—features a blend of Rhodes piano, Hammond B3 organ, Solina strings, and Moog synthesizers, creating the perfect nocturnal drive atmosphere.

My latest self-produced track “Swamp Squatchin’,” revisits the gritty vibes of 60s southern swamp rock, paying homage to the legendary Stax Records sound and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Throughout the evolution of White Ashes, I’ve had the pleasure of working with renowned musicians who contributed their skills on trumpet, drums, and flute, enriching the depth and diversity of the music.

The Slime Tutorialz

Launched in October 2023, The Slime Tutorialz marks my latest musical venture. This one-man band, completely self-produced at home, covers a quirky mix of tracks, from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” to “Time Warp” from the “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” and pop hits like “Tainted Love” by Soft Cell or “Goo Goo Muck” popularized by The Cramps on Netflix’s “Wednesday.” This project reflects my recent fascination with tiki culture, rockabilly, and surf rock, which bring immense joy to my life. The name “The Slime Tutorialz” is a playful nod to “slime tutorials,” a term for bootlegged recordings of Broadway songs, capturing the fun and spirited essence of this project. (Just don’t try and search for the music on YouTube, because you’ll never be able to find it in a search result…)

Licensing Opportunities

As I continue to explore and expand my musical horizons, I am also interested in licensing my compositions. If you’re captivated by the unique sounds of White Ashes or the fun vibes of The Slime Tutorialz and see potential for collaboration, please reach out to discuss licensing opportunities.
